LVHN Hosts Concussion Information Session August 7

For many years, physicians regarded concussions as a “wait-and-watch” condition, uniformly prescribing physical and cognitive rest for all patients. Today, specialists consider concussions very much treatable. Provide, that is, patients are properly diagnosed and managed by a multidisciplinary team with specialized concussion training. Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) offers the most advanced, comprehensive concussion program, in the region.

Beginning at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 7, experts in the field of concussion will host a free information session at the Health & Wellness Center at Hazleton, 50 Moisey Drive, Hazleton.

Parents, coaches, teachers, health care providers, or occupational health personnel interested in the overview, signs and symptoms of a concussion are invited to attend.

Danielle Shollenberger, CRNP, LVPG Neurosurgery, Head Trauma & Concussion Center, Allentown, Richard Canlas, MD, LVPG Orthopedics & Sports Medicine–Health & Wellness Center, and Ashley Schartzer, PT, physical therapy, Health & Wellness Center at Hazleton will share their expertise in onsite/field assessment, sports prevention, clinic assessment, and rehabilitation. A Q&A and informal balance screening will follow.
